Default Dash Lights Flashing Dim

Hi Guys,

Just got my new CSL, however tonight whilst having a little play in SMG/sport mode, when changing up in gear on full throttle the dash lights dimmed then flashed back.

I dont know if it was me just being over suspicious but also think that i felt the power went down at the same time, then jumped back up to normal once the dash had sorted itself out.

This all happened in a matter of seconds, and since driving the car after the problem hasnt happened since..

Is this something random i should forget about, or is there something i should be checking?

Any feedback is appreciated, had the car two days now and absolutely in love!!!

I've never noticed any dimming of my dash but I do occasionally get a slight decrease in power on full acceleration when the DSC cuts in.

You will get a momentary flicker of the DSC light too of course.

It could be the light control module it has a light sensor in it to dim the dash lights at night

Try it put you had over the light switch and the dash lights dim

I had what I think is the same thing.

My friend mentioned it happened to him, and then a week or so later it happened to me - never happened to either of us since.

Put your hand over the light switch

When this dimming occurs it dims down to a level that is WAY beyond the normal levels which can be achieved with the light sensor or the brightness control.

It's basically some weird glitch that has been present in the E46 M3 for as long as I can remember. All the dash illuminations will dim for a few seconds and then return to normal.
