older thread...

http://www.cslregister.com/forum/sho...?t=2814&page=2

I was speaking in passing with a BMW engineer last week regarding this car (when my car was in), he thinks he may have seen this one come in for work, he refused to work on it as the car was in a mess underneath, such as the propshaft not bolted on properly etc .
I would stay well clear! but if you or your mate do go for a look i would take someone who knows a lot about m3’s/csl’s and i would want to see the car on a ramp!!

google says ouch...

  • Category A: Scrap only (i.e. with few or no economically salvageable parts and which is of value only for scrap metal
  • Category B: Break for spare parts if economically viable (excluding any residual scrap value)
  • Category C: Repairable total loss vehicles where repair costs including VAT exceed the vehicle's pre-accident value
  • Category D: Repairable total loss vehicle where repair costs including VAT do not exceed the vehicle's pre-accident value

Thanks for the replies, I think the only use for that thing is as a Csl Cup car, and worth alot less than the asking price.

IMHO it's not even good enough for CSL Cup, if the chassis has been bent. U'd never get it to track properly and it could end up with some "UNIQUE" handling characteristics As I said in the previous thread... Don't do it !

I wouldnt ouch it with a barge pole, with CSL's being senstive to suspension adjustment i'd hazard a guess it drives sideways down the road and has some strange handling issues, cars don't get cat C for nothing & to put it another way think of the current market price & for the insurers to write it of as the repair cost are more than the car is worth tells you how badly damkaged the car was, plus who ever buys it will have the a huge problem when the try to sell it, steer well clear.

Cheers

Mark

To be honest if a car is repaired right, it ill drive 100% fine, if not better than when new... however that doesnt look like a proper repair job to me.
