Default ESS supercharger build, opinions?

i've found one very low mileage CSL for sale with quite some rebuild. Mainly ESS supercharger is there with water methanol injection giving 500HP. Than of course some suspension etc...

thinking to have one as garage queen and maybe the 500HP as weapon toy :-) does anyone have experiences with this? Looks like it's the same as Loaded is using and from this i guess it works and is reliable?

Per my comment on other thread, there is a 725 bhp csl in BMW CC mag this month. Work done by Simpsons apparantly..may be worth a shout to them.

Definate reference to ESS in the article..

Also a low mileage car....not the same one ??

If i were you, i`d replace the CSL engine with an uprated M3 one ( thereby preserving precious CSL engine) so that you can turn on more boost like Stephen in the 725bhp CSL........

Hi,

Just out of interest what has been done
with regard engine temps on these
Supercharged Cars ?

I know of a E30 M3 with a S50 B32 which
is supercharged, two laps of the Ring or
3 of Spa on a warm day and it has to
pit to cool down the engine temps, due
to the thermal temps being generated and
retained in engine the block / head itself.

I also know of a Supercharged CSL that
suffers from the same thermal issues.

Even the Loaded CSL was prone to overheating
and H/G issues on warm days with prolonged
driving on a Track.

So given that reliabilty was and still may be
an issue, what do they do now to keep
the block/head etc from the Thermal
overload that aftermarket Supercharged
cars seem to be plauged with ?

Large Intercooler or Methonal etc is fine
for ''running temps'' but it will not stop
a mass of metal, ie engine block acting
as a thermal store and conducting and
retaining the heat generated that a NA
car would not incur.

Friction = Heat.

Regards,

The Gorilla.
