Default Tyre Company who will export?

Guys,

Does anybody know a UK tyre company who will sell to me in Australia VAT free if I organise the collection? Camskill won't.

Believe it or not, in most cases in the upper end of the tyre market it is significanlty cheaper to import express freight than buy locally.

Thanks

They need a company number, equivalent to a VAT number.
Only way is to sell to a business, not an individual

If you have this then there is really no reason why they shouldn't.

So a business can't claim the VAT back or not sell with VAT to an individual outside of the UK if they can prove they were exported? Otherwise how does an international individual claim the VAT back?

It's far more complicated to an individual and they are just being lazy.

You can send it without vat to individuals but you then need to compile all the evidence to prove. So they are likely being lazy.

I've bought tyres from camskill ex vat, using an Irish vat number. You should be able to do it really. Do you have vat numbers in Oz?

You are the same as any other Vat EX country, I assume they just decide they don't want to do it. If they were sending them to you then may be a little more helpful as then they know the tyres are going directly to an ex vat country, if your collecting them then there is a chance the tyres may not end up in a non vat ex country and that's what they are trying to eliminate the risk of.

I have tried quite a few now and all say the same. I would be happy to pay the VAT and then once I have received them provide the POD to show evidence of arrival here in Australia for them to credit the VAT back to my card, but no one wants to do that.

It looks like I'll have to buy from the US which is slightly dearer. Germany maybe another option but they are a bit dearer than the UK too.

Only looking for the one set, I probably only buy 1-2 sets per year of different types.
