Default What Oil?

Never thought I would ask this question but what oil is now recommended for S54 by BMW and what is everybody using?

Just bought another 8ltrs of Castrol today.
It's been ok since 2004 is my take on it.

Any 10w-60 Oil will do. Its way more important to change it every 6.000 miles / annually. No matter the brand.
BMW used to recommend only Castrol in the past because they were partners.
Recently BMW partnered with Shell... and now they are recommending to only use Shell, for the same engine. Go figure

Ok, shimmy. Since you seem in desperate need of my wisdom, i am sharing my secret with you. I only use Black Racing Oil.. its the best you can do for your engine.

Neither of both, its a special blend. But you specifically have to ask your dealer about it, because BMW doesn't want you to know about it or else they wouldn't sell a single replacement engine any more. I managed to snap a picture of how its mixed, however. I'm sure i am on their list now

More flipping expense, Didn't know you had to put oil in as well
