New race car sounds awesome Shimmy and Alex that looks like terrific fun. 2016 was my first year as a racing driver after joining the Caterham Academy, unbelievable good fun and a great bunch of guys, we were all novices although some were very good. Managed 5 podiums and 3 lap records, best was a 2nd and finished 3rd overall so pretty pleased. Made loads of mistakes though but was to be expected I suppose. For 2017 I've skipped roadsport and tracksport and gone straight to Supersport (actually called 310R championship now). This is the highest I can upgrade the Academy car. Qualifying is 20mins and 30min races (2 per weekend). The drivers are far more experienced in the 310R championship so expect to get my arse royally spanked but will be a great learning curve. We are racing at:-
Snetterton 300
Spa
Brands Indy
Donington
Oulton
Rockingham
Silverstone International
So we have a great calendar which I am so looking forward to.

Good luck

That's got to be doing 2.05's at snett?

All the cars on the grid are either half built race cars or fully built ones, as you know what tends to happen is they first get built to a lesser spec and with less effort then people realise to be competative generally you need to at leat build a race car, rather than an upgraded road car. Dora is no different, but is certainly not to the spec or cost of for instance Pier's car. Not saying his is miles faster as once you get to the final upgrades they dont typically give you whole seconds, but tenths and better traction and control ability say in the wet (playing with the Motek if you have it).

I think we will be able to compete with all the cars this year, maybe a win if we are lucky, but should be some great racing.

My bro did Academy in 2010 and then next level 2011. Went to loads of his races and helped out. No good for me, I just don't fit safely in a Caterham

Thanks Barry, it's certainly quite lively. 700kg with 250bhp and 365 lb/ft. Traction is the main issue. Not much grip but handling is sweet.

Going back to supercharged spec after this season. That will add 20kg or so but then will be 365bhp+ and well over 400 torques! It was supercharged from new in 1948 until 1955.

Will be looking forward to seeing you and Shim in action. Keep you informed for tickets.

For my season I'll let you have season dates Shim. Can only remember Chateau Impney is 8/9th July and think Shelsley Walsh Classic Nostalgia event is 22/23rd July. Other VSCC events but will post dates later.

Shimmy, in the E46 race car what would be a healthy lap around Snett 300 and Brands Indy?
