Ive had a few brake kits in the past HiSpec, FCarbon from CA Automotive, and now APs on the CSL.

I found the HiSpec and FCarbon very similar both in design and performance, yes the disk size seemed larger than the APs but this caused me problems with track wheels as i prefer the cost of 18" tyres rather than 19" ones which the HiSpec and FCarbon needed for clearance. In general performance was better than stock.

In contrast the CSL came with APs alround and i can now fit 18" alloys which is better for me and choice of wheels on track. I would say the APs look of better quality and i feel they give better performance than any other brake kit ive had in the past even though they have a smaller disk diameter. This may honestly be a placebo effect of knowing i have APs but i do feel a differance and do believe the quality is better and more solid. If that makes sense. APs do cost more but now ive tried a few kits id prefer to pay the extra knowing i have a solid setup.

Ill stop rambling now but thats just my 2p.

If your in further doubt id suggest speaking to Simpson Motorsport as they have a few stories about certain BBK they have seen fail when put under the pressure and can probably give better advise than I.

You're right there Mark...never had a problem with the standard ones for road use.

Will say that Simpsons motorsport said that the standard disc are OK it's really only the pads that need changing on the front.

Default ap brakes

just bought set of ap's one of the calipers had 2 wrong pistons, they were too large, worth checking before you take off the old brakes that all pistons can be pushed home, this is an issue known to ap, cost me 3 days work through not having a car, worked out to be expensive brakes

Default brakes

they are good not a lot of difference between the standards brakes with pagid 19 pads and braided hoses as far a stopping the car , but expect less fade, going for first track day in my own car at knockhill later this month hopefully i will benefits from having ap's
