18" not fitting with APs

Having problem and need a solution. Trying to fit my new 18" wheels and wont fit with the APs because of the wheel balance weights. Any solutions? Cant move the Weights over as they still get in the way.

Can the APs adjusted? or remove the weights? seems to be a few weights so by doing so may get bad wheel judder.

The car is up on a jack as I speak and need an answer asap. Anyone had this problem?

I'm sure i read somewhere that the early CSL spec AP kits have this issue. The ones sold nowadays are modified slightly. Can't offer any help though i'm afraid!

Saw the PM before this so PMed back. Mine went without a problem, would it help if you moved the tyre weights around a bit so the APs went on, on a clear bit of wheel? Mine are rear M3 18"s on the front...

Does it not matter there the weights go? It would work if they were in the centre of the wheel, or where the wheel dips a little giving it more clearance? They are on the edge at the moment where the APs are rubbing. Was think of getting the angle grinder out and taking the corners of the APs off.

Just get a garage to rebalance the wheels, using either slimline weights or moving the weights elsewhere on the wheel, bearing in mind that the balancing might not be as 'true' elsewhere, but still acceptable. My 18s (same style as yours) had to put the weights on the outside of the rim i.e. the visible face.

The original spec CSL AP calipers were wider, which meant you had to use spacers with those wheels. The new version (2006 onwards I think?) is slimline which isn't a problem.

All sorted. I repositioned the weights more towards the centre of the wheel, out of reach of the APs and test drove and no signs of off balance. Pretty good in the wet too I must say. I still managed to get the car sideways down to the pub thou!

I used 888s on a set of cheap 18" wheels at Anglesey last November, I thought they were good, but not in the same league as Cups IMHO.

They overheat on track really quickly and aren't even close to cups IME or so I've heard the dunlops. Great road tyre but that is it on such a lardy car. When dunlops can be had for similar money it is a no brainer to get them.

I've heard people say that R888 don't work on heavier cars but are fantastic on Exiges etc. That said I know many people using them on 996 GT2, GT3RS etc...

I hope they keep making the dunlop as they seemed good at Donington, just need that front cup!
