Unhappy cars revving in gear by itself ? issues many issues

Hi guys need some help,

Just put the car back on the road after a long hibernation.

So many lights have come up.

I know for one the steering angle sensor needs doing, can we recommend anyone ?

The main issue i am concerned about it that the car around corners in 1st gear revs itself up all the way to red line ! scared the shit out of me.

also noticed SMG is behaving odd, hesitant to shift and not going in gear correctly.

Checked the codes and have got

Wheel speed sensor
SMG unidentified dde/ddm signal
SMG solenoid valve 5 fail
steering angle sensor

What could be the issues with the gearbox and who can i get to sort the steering angle sensor out ? hate lights on the dash.

Really not having luck with my Ms at the moment.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Have to say and thank you to Damian at Bartlett Automotive. Still upset by my car throwing a strop though.

I'd be looking to get the wheel speed issue resolved first, that will sort out the car revving up by itself. Usually the sensor that does it.

The steering angle sensor can be reinitialised as well, if it's still storing fault codes after that it will need replacing.

There are a number of tests that can be run with the SMG to check pressures and sensor readings, it should be possible from there to determine what the issue is.

Have you had the SMG relay replaced? These really should be on the service schedule

If it's not been used for a while, an Italian tune up wouldn't hurt

Have I missed something regarding smg solinoids, only four on smg pump didn’t think there was a fifth on smg system, ??? Clutch 1....shift travel x2 .. selection angle 1. ......For information As I understand the samon colour relay is activated by smg control unit at 45 bar, to represure pump back to 80bar , After picking info from pressure sensor on pump, simple really,, ..if pressure sensor fails, smg control unit will automatically represure pump at preset time intervals to maintain pressure, provided pink relay is ok.. I guess relays do fail. But mines still the original, but I do have a spare, Bmw big thumbs up on that one... I don’t think smg likes to be in hibernation for to long,,

I had the revving problem once. A new wheel speed sensor fixed it. I didn't drive around with this problem for long but if the car started to rev without my input I'd just give the gas pedal a little blip to remind the car who's boss.
