Default Where to get Warranty?

For those whose cars have run out of their manufactures warranty, where did you renew? BMW quoted over £800/yr for a CSL under 60k miles. Is this average? Is this really worth it, are CSLs often in the menders?

Which route did you go (company), what you Paying, Mileage & Excess?

How did you manage to get a windscreen? what happened to it?

P.S when I bought my car it was from a BMW main dealer and came with 12 months warranty+ European breakdown cover, is there an excess on this or is it a normal no excess warranty like when you buy new?

Check your policy. There 3 levels of cover, all come either with or without an xs.

I would have a BMW warranty all day long. The dealers love them, and will replace anything under warranty.

A mate was facing a new gearbox in his 2yrd M5, cost £10k if he didn't have a warranty!!!!

If yours has expired, you can now renew it, see this thread for more details:

Im currently under AUC warranty.

When I come to renew in April I'll go for BMW extended, will this cover me for European breakdown as well? (Thinking of the Ring trip here)

I don't have a policy. They just said it is on the BMW system, so when I take the car to my local dealer they know it has warranty on it. The sales man said the warranty would cost £1100 so it must be the top one

I did get a letter through from BMW giving me a warranty number

The BMW is more comprehensive. My dad had top cover with Warranty Direct - regarded as the top aftermarket company - and had to fight tooth and nail to get a bit replaced, even though it was listed as an OK part! On other hand, BMW don't argue with you...

I'm sure many have gotten away without, its all whether you're prepared to take the risk (and consequent expense) if something major goes wrong.

Sounds like you have the top cover with zero xs. Although I would ring BMW Warranty and double check. A mate bought his Z4 Alpina from a dealer, with warranty, took it into another dealer 7 months later for some repairs, and then spent 6 weeks in 'battle' withe BMW as they claimed there was no warranty and he would have to pay for the work. Got resolved in the end, but not what you need.

Isolated case I think, as I have heard nothing but good things about the BMW Warranty from many others

All used cars bought from a BMW dealership known as Approved Used Cars (AUC) come with One year fully comprehensive warranty and No excess. Meaning everything but wearing parts is covered.

I think E46ACS' friends dealer was trying to pull a fast one.

I will soon find out as I will be sending the car to the stealers in March to see if they will fit a new clutch, I think I have clutch slur/slip if I changed gear between 4.5k rpm and 6k rpm.

Hopefully I won't have to battle with the stealers as they have lost in the past against me lol

Is there a quick way to test if the RTAB are starting to go?
On my Cooper S I can put a wheel brace on a front wheel nut and rock foward. This shows play in the front lower wishbone bushes, I have polybushed them now . Anyone know of anything similar to do with the CSL? 21,000 miles on the car so far
