Welcome Dafoe, interesting about the coated headers, do you think this will dramatically lower engine bay temps? And if yes, does it have any adverse affects on the cats or exhaust make up

Thanks! I am obsessed with caring for her! She's a 2001, got her two years ago with 24k miles. She's got 66k on her now, and NOT my daily driver. That big UGLY 15 passenger van is my daily. Driving the van all week to DC and back makes one appreciate the M3! Fortunately I have some great roads here.

Hey Shimmy!
The ceramic coated headers offer better performance for two reasons, one under hood temps are lower, oils temps seem slighty lower, but the best thing is the scavenging effects of the headers with them ceramic coated. Haven't heard of any negative effects on the cats. I did get those cats from Ebay UK when I installed the headers. Which was a PIA!!!

The headers were coated inside and out.

One of my favorite mods on this car are the lightweight APEX ARC-8's which are 18.8 lbs, and strong! Mated with the new Michelin Pilot Super Sports... WHOA!! FUN!!!

depends on the gauge of the tubes too

from Zircotec's website... "We have developed a range of ultra high performance thermal barrier coatings that are specifically designed to prevent unwanted heat loss from engine exhaust system components"

It insulates the header and therefore increases exhaust gas speed thru the system- ergo your tips will be hotter than before

I don't think it adversely affects the cats at all -they will warm up quicker if anythng WRC cars have their cats right in the tips but also are coated in entirety...

Welcome mate, you do keep your M3 looking minted but then again, you have that lovely weather. :-( Not that I'm jealous at all.

Good luck in finding CSL parts...for sensible money.

Appreciate the warm welcome!

So I found a gutted CSL on ebay, tried to get the guy to dismantle the roof, no go, and no ship.

If he agreed to dismantle, may fly out to ship it back myself! lol

Happy Friday!

Once you've found your feet here I'm sure someone would help in getting one shipped out
