Default Not running to good

So took the car out for a blast tonight for the first time in a while. normal routine of getting her up to temperature then on to the motorway (quite at this time of night) to open the taps up was cruising along for about 10 miles when all of a sudden the engine started spluttering and misfiring the car was vibrating yellow engine light came on as well I pulled over the engine sounded rough and the wired vibrations were still present . Any thoughts guys any advice much appreciated.

Could be a lot of issues really. Could also be a faulty throttle position sensor.. do you have the means to get your codes read? I think that would be the best option.

coil pack. Perhaps head gasket. You need to get the code read.

Hope it's something just like a coil and nothing more sinister.will find out in the morning as it's being looked at then.

Don't worry i think Gregor didn't mean to say that its likely that your head gasket failed but he tried to give you an impression that it can really be a range of things causing your issue.

Glad I didn't have that bet bounce I'd been paying up. So turns out it was a coil pack cylinder number six to be exact also the computer has shown the throttle sensor has been playing up and exhaust temperature sensor as well so a few jobs for the winter. Its all money with these cars

Gathered that but yea when these cars play up it really can be a mine field that can do real harm to a mans bank balance

Yes, can be any number of things when lights start flashing. I had a coil pack disconnect itself halfway through a track day. Car suddenly started running on 5 cylinders. I didn't know what to do first. Change my underwear, or just go straight to the long walk of a short pier.
