From memory the door cards were modified by Simpsons to accommodate the cage? They can sort cosmetic bits, properly good at composite work.

yes they were modified to fit the roll cage. Well done really.

what kind of battery do you guys use. The current Simpson supplied one is a super dinky braille racing battery that frightens me every time i crank it up. I would rather sacrifice a few pounds and get a decent/normal one. Any recommendations?

ALso, how do you tell the service is needed? it doesn't seem to have the normal bmw indicator lights....
Thanks

I'd make the trip to Simpsons, however if you can't make it there I'd give George at Technosport a shout.

Hi,

I dropped my car off at simpsons motorsport.

1) Turns out the discs have hairline cracks that are about 10mm from the edge so new front PF discs will be put on. I was advised that road cars are not suited to floating disc setup as they would rattle terribly. What's the benefit of a floating setup?

2) The KW clubsports will be inspected and then refurbed if necessary followed by geo and corner weight. Do you guys know who simpsons would use for that. Don't think i saw an alignment machine at their shop.

3) I wanted to replace the 10 year old cooling system with an oem new one and was advised to remove the thermostat with an insert that basically allows more flow with the downside of necessitating a longer warm up time. Sounds reasonable since this is not my daily but rather my track slag " er no, let's call it track mistress", running it in winter where i fear the car may never get to op. temps on the road isn't really an issue. anyone else tried this? Any thermostat is restrictive but i understand it's uses in getting engine temps up quickly.

4) Now for the biggie, should I remove the AC? It doesn't work now but Julian said it could be a failed pump and should be an easy fix. I'm not really bothered by heat but saying that, the last spa trip i did was in april and i am intending to make next years DN11 in july so I may regret this. I am leaning towards AC removal as I have other cars, amg c63 and a gt3 rs for fun and resale isn't an issue for me... it has 115k miles on the engine and apparently still going strong.....

5) front pu is getting painted along with carbon repair work on the centre console, passenger door and rear diffuser.

6) exhaust is extremely loud and Simpsons think the muffler is not doing its job. Will be sticking on an regular m3 muffler lying around the shop to se if that solves the problem. ...i hate worrying about passing noise tests on track.

thoughts guys?

Saw it today whilst I was down working on the f40lm mentioned in the other thread.

Simpsons do their own geo, they do have the electronic kit but 99% of the time it is done the proper way with string
