Default Clunky noise from rear

Took my car to the dealers on saturaday as I have a clunky noise coming from the rear.

Symtoms are:
Turning into junctions / exiting roundabout at slow and/ or steady pace while in gear, there's a clunk (metal on metal) noise from the rear. Its as if somethings moving from one side to the other.

Also

Rolling down a slight hill, in 2nd / 3rd gear, @ 15/20mph, when I let off the throttle, I get a knocking back and forth noise. As if something is torque back once Iv let off power.

Mecahnic stuck her up on the ramp and checked things out. There's excessive play in my RH drive shaft bushes, so he is going to replace them. Everything else looked in good order, inc diff bushes. He's going to have a good look at the diff when its out too.

Hopefully this will sort the above symtoms. Is there any suggestions on what else it could be while the car is in.

Was going to be fitting V3s this week, but not sure if thats a good idea until things are sorted (or they may try to blame it!)

Thanks

Bryce

The rear bottom arms done this on my csl.
it sounds like a bolt sliding about from side to side in a chassie leg it was my bottom rear arms the 1s that come from the diff down to the bottom of the rear wheel.

It took 7 days to get them from germany.

They do seem pretty soft.

Im so anal about creeks and rattles, the slightest noise drives me insane.

UPDATE

Just heard from the dealer and they cant source the problem at all. They've checked everything and it all seems in order, even the wishbones. So theyre emailing BMW® techy's to ask for suggestions.

Is there no signs of a problem with the wishbones when looking at them, even when theyre shot?

They're not replacing my driveshaft bushes either, apparently there's always more play in the RH side.

Oh, and I met them on the bypass giving it hefty - not fcukin happy when the problem occurs at low speeds ( 5 - 20 mph )

Any more suggestions?

Utterly fed up trying to solve this issue.

you cant just look at them
when there loaded up there held tight thats why they clunk left right right left, its as there unloading

i bet you a tenner im right!

jack up rear wheel remove it mark the washer, remove bolt on the bottom of the stub axle drop the wishbone down then move the wish bone in and out as hard as you can and you,ll get the same clunk you hear in the car the arms are crap the bearing wears and also the end is bonded in and the bonding breaks

i would,nt trust bmw to fix a bloody wheel barrow

Spot on Dave, thanks for the advice - I'll put that too them. They've just got the car up on the ramp and shaking things about. So as you say, there's no load on the 'bones during this.

And your right, I dont trust them either. Its only cos its warranty work that they're getting the job.

Pint on me if it fixes it
