Is the AUC warranty, in general, different to the Insured Warranty then? (There is probably a thread already, but I can't find it.) I could read the fineprint, but what are peoples experience with the two. Is one anymore limited than the other? Presumably the only way to get AUC is when buying from a stealer?

Also regarding the 100k, i'd have thought from the wording on the insured warranty website:

"Please note that Comprehensive Insured Warranty is not available for vehicles with over 100,000 mileage (at the time of purchasing the warranty)"

...that if you are under 100,000k at the time of starting the warranty, you can continue past 100,000.

I had a feeling this was the case. I will double check when mine reaches 100k miles.

My car has / had the AUC when I bought it. I bought privately and the PO was already on the monthly pay plan. All that happened is that I took over the payments and got the driver name changed.
I have paid ever since except a 5 month period when my credit card changed and the payments were missed on account of the numbers not matching. I thought quite hard about the £400 or so that was required to reinstate the warranty to its full status (paying the missed premiums in one hit), but eventually decided it made sense, so the policy remains in full cover.
One other tip on the AUC is that I seem to recall if you pay it monthly then the excess is £100 while if you pay annually it is somehting like £250. I could never make sense of there being any difference, but certainly it being that way round!

So can monthly; once your monthly policy has been taken out you can amend it on month 11 to change excess:

I have no idea if a change constitutes a new policy therefore new premiums (above 60k)

Don't forget there is no 12 months for monthly payment, it's just continuous

Im on month 10, reason is as the first year you pay more as the warranty has expired and you are being punished, so month 11 I can amend excess and reduce my premium, so mondial said last year.

I will soon find out!!!! Otherwise Ill be paying over the odds for the rest of my ownership, so forever

sfh3l, cheers for the info , but I don't quite understand what you mean when you say the PO was paying month-by-month for the AUC and you got it switched to you. Isn’t AUC is only possible on an approved used car purchased from a dealer, and paid in full by the dealer (1 year, or 2 if you can get it thrown in)? I though when the AUC expires, thats it, its expired and you take out a new BMW-Insured-Warranty.

For the mondial BMW-Insured-Warranty (which I think most ppl here have), I was told (by mondial) that if buying privately, when switching owner it becomes a new policy, and the monthly rate is adjusted to the mileage at the time of purchase. So if the PO got the car on a warranty at 30,000 miles, and you buy it at 60,001 miles, you end up paying the expensive 60k+ rate. (so around 175 per month or 1950per year, probably about 4x what the PO would have been paying from 30k).

I think this is an impt note, as many ppl have tried sell their 60k+ cars to me, claiming I can take over their £70-per-month-for-life warranty, which sadly is not true.
