Default BMW warranty contact

While drying round the engine bay after washing the car at the weekend noticed this on the intake.

Took it to my local dealer on Monday morning, embarrassingly he said “that must be an aftermarket piece, never seen that on an M3 before”, I didn’t know what to say, thought he must be joking, however long story cut short he said he would look into it, rang me 20-30 minutes later & said this is not covered under warranty.

Contacted BMW direct earlier today & got the run around so wondering do any of you know any contacts at BMW customer care/warranty, telephone numbers, email address etc?

I’ve had the car since 2006, it is in mint condition, purchased from dealer John Clark, thankfully never had to claim for anything before, kept the warranty up year on year, purchased a brand new BMW last year & also have a Mini so think there should be at least some goodwill on behalf of BMW.

really strange

if it was caused by the car eventually the box will fail (as the flaps fail)and that should fall under part of the warranty ...... but im sure they will argue the cause of the failure/burning. It look liken th screw has gotten very hot and burnt the CF

Just catching onto this now Jonny after our e-mails mate, sorry to hear this but I can't believe they're saying it's trim and why o why are they saying they've never seen that airbox on an M3 before when both our cars have been in to The Country Garage???

I'd say stick with it, and keep arguing that it's not trim and is a functioning part of the car, which of course it is. Or do we wait until it crack, rots and falls to pieces before claiming?

I would be surprised that the CF under the washer would not also be burned if bolt got so hot the radiated heat could do that. Is it possible the bolt got stuck and someone’s tried to heat it, which would inevitably burn the surounding CF?

I've had the car now from 2006 & the airbox has not been off in that time.
