On M-torque there was CSL sold for only 16k with FSH and in decent condition. They said it must only have 2k spended to get him in good condition. This time it is very hard to sell a car when you priced it very high.

Not exactly a good barometer for the private market though.

It was a repossession with over 60K miles and not in great condition - still a cracking bargain, but like it's been said above, not a barometer for setting values.

The CSL has one of the strongest residual values of any car I can think of. I sold my last two between 1.5 and 2 years ago and they are probably worth much the same today as when I sold them....assming you're not sticking 20,000 miles a year on the speedo. IMO it's a car that is greater than the sum of its parts.

They first came out at close to £60K (£20K'ish more than the standard M3) and took a quick drop before most people realised just how fantastic they were. Prices then had a bit of a resurgence and for the last couple of years have stuck at around £30K or so. Keep it in good order and it'll be worth the same in 12 months time.

If the car recently seen at aution had been placed on Pistonheads it would have sold for early £20K's.

So, realistically whats a car on 35,000 miles... full service history, just not all BMW (1 specialist) worth? Presuming the car is in great condition inside and out.

What are CSL's like for stone chips, do the flared arches get a light peppering? Also another thing i've noticed once or twice is a bit of corrosion in the laqure on the CSL sill plates, is this normal??

Front brake discs and pads... how much would they set me back? Also whats the going rate for an Inspection II, Oil Change + Coolant. Finally what are Continental tyres like on the back like, any good or need scrapping?

I'd say approx 30k depending on options, who serviced it and history

I think InspII is approx 800-1200 depending on which dealer.

My experience with Conti tyres is poor except for the family chugger. Deffo go Mich PS2s if they are for normal road use. (PS2s can also handle the occasional trackday much better than other road tyres)

I just paid £25K for a 47K mile example in fantastic condition. Just had Inspection 2 (2k ago); Inspection 1 done in time; lots of bills under warranty (nothing major and as already said, not a bad sign neccesarily, often a sign of meticulous owner with a good relationship with the local dealer - they even replaced the steering wheel due to alcantara bobbling !).

Totally standard car with air con, business CD, Xenons and still another 6m on BMW comprehensive warranty.

To be honest, I believe (hope!) I dropped on a good example at a great price.

A good 35K miler I would price at £28.5-£31K depending on condition / upgrades.

Had it 3 days and unless financial circumstances dictate otherwise, it'll be a keeper. As suggested earlier, get one now whilst you can, keep it nicely / sensible miles and values will hold

Nothing, SERIOUSLY nothing gets close for the money. It really is a fantastic machine that just happens to have a 3 series shell on top of it !
Closest is a GT3 which will cost you 10-15K more. Very nice car but less practical. Having never driven one, I wont comment on comparisons in other criteria.

All IMHO
