Extra seat padding - with pics

Wanted to try something to improve the lumbar and shoulder support for the front seats. At 6' 3"+ I find my shoulders get pushed forward slightly, putting strain on my neck. Not a complete nightmare but could be a problem for 2+ hour journeys.

What was needed was more lumbar support, with additional padding for the middle/upper back to get the shoulders straighter.

So I tried something.

Original Seat

Move OEM pad to upper section

Take some central heating pipe wrap. Notice how I am saving energy by using this.

Cut one piece to size

Then another piece

Replace seat section

Side profile view

Comparison before/after

Seems to have worked pretty well, will do the same for the passenger seat if it's better during use !

Looks like a cheap and effective solution to your problem.

I personally find that the standard seats fit me fine at 6.1 but i might give this a try to see if it makes the seating even better.

I found the seats superb on my long days driving in Europe this summer - but then i'm a mere 5'9", lol!

Yep looks like an effective way to improve. I'm sure I've seen an 'official' booster for the seats some where. Like the abaove I find them OK thought. But I'm hardly a giant at 5'7".....So who is the shortest CSL owner then?

could have guessed this may turn into a "you are the shortest" contest

My 20 min drive to the station this morning has proved that there is a noticeable improvement. It was never uncomfortable, just means i now have a more naturally straight back and shoulders so less pressure on the neck. Result !

I believe you can buy an air inflatable lumbar support from Demon Tweeks which is supposed to be effective.
