Default GoPro Motorsport Track Cam

Anyone have one?

What are your thoughts on it?

Im slightly put off by the mount for the bumper being stick on though.

Any other negatives?

I have a non-HD version and only used it a few times. I have mixed thoughts on them:

Pros:

1. Relatively cheap to buy
2. Small bit of kit
3. Weatherproof inside its perspex case
4. Good range of attachment options both inside and outside car
5. Quick download to laptop via SD HC card

Cons:

1. A bit fiddly to learn to use - it took me several 'test' runs!
2. Potential damage to mounting area on car if using sticky pads
3. Inferior quality of video when compared to more expensive options
4. It is noticeably affected by poor or bright light conditions as there are no compensations within camera (unlike more expensive options)
5. Eats 'AA' battery life rather quickly

In short - you get what you pay for i suppose. It is cheap and cheerful after all, but doesn't exactly provide good quality imagery that can be played on a modern tv screen. The new HD version should prove a better option if it also has a higher capacity SD card.

As i also have a mini-DV HD camera + suction mount, i will continue to use this inside the cabin and accept the occasional annoyance like flies on the windscreen or the camera trying to re-focus if it starts to rain!

I will now probably only use my GoPro as a 'helmet-cam' for when i go skiing in the New Year!

Hope this helps...

Its very muffled due to case, although I think it could be improved by removing waterproof seal, no connectors for external mic
