As far as I am aware the diff is generally not covered under warranty as the stealers usually claim it's failed through use.

That said if your diff is OEM and was fitted by an BMW dealer or BMW Indie/specialist the part is covered by 2 years parts and labour warranty.

I know this is the case as I've just had a brand new BMW diff fail after 10 miles!!!! Subject to the stealers assessing the failure they'll be fitting a replacement Free of Charge.

I have had a new diff on warranty before, also I know of a person on here has had seals replaced on warranty, I don't think mileage would be a factor as it has failed.

I had a new diff on warranty
There were no questions asked, in fact I didn't even think anything was wrong but the dealer spotted something when servicing.

I've had my whole diff replaced under BMW / Mondial Warranty few years ago when it became quite clunky & loose, thanks to Garteh
Make sure if has the new, improved oil in it as my replacement arrived filled with the old stuff and we had to ask BMW warranty to pay for the new improved diff oil, which they eventually did

It's only covered if you have the full warranty. The drivetrain and other mid-cost option don't cover any seals. No need to ask me how I know this

Added to this we all know the dealers that are/were proactive when processing claims: Elms, Murketts of old, to name but 2.

Some no mark stealers are useless when communicating with Mondial.
