Default The CSL blues

My car needs a new exhaust cam (low pressure meant worn follower and then scored cam).

But there are no cams. And they are in process of nominating a new supplier....

So it's been at Elms since September with NO date as to when I might see it again.

I thought over winter that wouldn't matter but I'm beginning to miss it.

not ideal pooks. sounds like CSL parts are becoming rare.

could you not ask for uprated cams from shrick and get dealer to cover?

CSL parts becoming rare and BMW now outside the time period that they are obliged to maintain parts supply for.

Wouldn't be surprised if they just stop bothering, can't be worth much to them with so few cars around?

They should just buy them all back for £100k each and be done.

The loaners must be costing them a fortune

That sounds insane. You've paid for warranty, they should have to supply the parts.

I would speak to a lawyer and see what is the best course of action. I'd consider asking them to buy the car off you at a price that would allow you to go and buy another CSL privately of similar quality.

not acceptable, people shouldn't put up with this crap. What's the point of warranty if they wont honor it?

I suspect that the BMW warranty analysis/marketing situation isn't granular enough to deal with the niche'ness of the CSL and it's almost also not worth them bothering to figure it all out.

It works both ways (we benefit as do BMW) and the sometimes crazy outlier situations don't leap out of the spreadsheets as being wrong enough to fix.

Or as cars get older and parts scarcer someone might notice, re-work the sums and then it all stops or it gets really expensive.
