Default 997 Turbo thoughts?

Gents

has anyone here owned one?

thoughts, opinions would be much appreciated.

I know they are soft compared to GT3/CSL, but does anyone have any real world experience and advise.

thanks in advance

Only as a passenger with a qualified pursuit driver. Ballistic, the overtaking becomes addictive and straights shrink.

Drove a friends one and it was ok but not that special, very fast in straight line never really pushed it that hard in the corner but sure it would have been great. PDK was very disappointing but....

Same friend had a 997 GTS which I thought was great really quick felt light and nimble and he PDK in that was like a completely different gearbox, super fast changes up and down.

Friend got bored of the turbo quite quickly and swapped it for a 12c, the GTS got written off in an accident but would have been kept a lot longer!

gen1 is a apparently a bit underwhelming. Very fast in a straight line (quicker than my 997.2GT3 when me and a mate had a few races, on a private road/runway). Pick of the gen1's would be a manual with the Sports Chrono (SC). Not much going on in the noise department - very quiet infact.

gen2 is a different beast. Same mate had for a short while a turbo-S. Sounds much better. Nicer interior. Handles better. And PDK with SC and Launch Control is just something else!.. We pulled up on a private road and tested the LC a few times...

The tuners say PDK in the gen2 is worth 100bhp alone over a gen1 - the box makes an already quick car.. ballistic! 0-60 in less than 3secs....

Owned one and loved it.
If it was PDK I would still have it.

When really pushing on the front end pushes on. But I was really impressed with mine. Great car. Needs an exhaust, as it's a little quiet.

I competed in a sprint at silverstone in mine. Against stripped out race evo's and it certainly surprised a few people.

Certainly not a precise tool like a gt3 or Csl, but an excellent gt car.

I preferred mine to the GTR.

If you're not planning on doing many/any TDs the 911 TURBO (996 & 997) makes for a sublime all round, all weather Fast Road car
With a little helping form a Pro. re-map & hi end/speck exhaust, it'll easily see the happy side of reliable 500+ BHP
I have very fond memories of a late speck (2002/52) 996 T with a DMS re-map 997 T can only be better & faster still.

997 is much better than 996 for me.
I've owned both. 996 modified, 997 standard.
