Ring is open from 5:15 till 7:30 on wednesday evening, I would get pissed in salzburg and cruise up the next day?

I wasn't too naughty, well the pass across too switzerland was fun, was very good in der schweiz, apart from not getting a pass for their motorway, then was bad all the way up thru germany - 120 is not a bad cruising speed - legally of course

Bugger, should've checked that out first.

What about a halfway point between Salzburg and the Ring? Or if there's a crowd staying in Salzburg on the Tuesday night after the TD then I'd be up for that too before a gentle cruise up to Nürburg.

from searching around salzburg, there are a couple of things possible wednesday -

eagles nest at Berchtesgarden for Kaffee und kuchen

or....

maybe the porsche museum at Gemuend (sp)

and then the nockalmstrasse - 35km public toll road up a mountain
http://www.nockalmstrasse.at/en/nock...nbeschreibung/

its 100miles south of salzburg tho.....

Cheers for that Jim, I've mailed the Travel agents to change the ferry so looking at staying the night in Salzburg and 'cruising' to Nürburg during the day Wednesday, maybe get a lap in before dinner that night. I'd have come from Italy way before Munich, staying at Lake Como the Friday night before meeting everyone on the Saturday, driving over through Stelvio so 'might' head to Nürburg another way but I'm she there are tonnes of routes, it's a driving Holliday after all.
