Bit of a thread resurrection but thought rather this than starting a new one.

Mine was in for an oil service last week and while in they noticed some oil around the input shaft area. I can only assume the seals have gone there but of course, they want to book the car in for diagnosis before assessing whether they'll cover it under warranty or not...

Typical now it's summer and the car might be off the right for a week or two... I should have left it in while I'm offshore for a few weeks now.

Did they replace just the seals? When an output shaft bearing collapsed on mine previously, they replaced the whole diff as apparently BMW Warranty wouldn't allow them to replace parts on the diff. I'd be happy enough with just the seals replaced.

as far as I know , just the rear seals. Whilst the diff was out though they found I needed to replace the rear solid brake lines that run over the diff and they werent covered by the warranty

The brake lines couldn't have been expensive though were they? Might ask for replacements while the diff is out anyway... maybe they have to take the fuel tank out too??

They refused mine, although I think that was just the dealer couldn't be arsed as I've seen others have been done.

I got Simpson Motorsport to do it in the end

approx £300 just for the pipes !!

Along with a new oil cooler pipe, new rear discs etc etc it wasnt a cheap visit to the dealers
