Thanks for all the suggestions
I would replace the Coil and clear the codes and drive until they pop up again.

I had a similiar issue last year, car sometimes went into limp mode all of a sudden. It gave me a number of faults when i read the error codes, EGT Sensor, post cat o2 sensors, Throttle Position sensor etc.
Goes without saying that i replaced the EGT and o2 sensors only to find out that the culprit has always been the throttle positon sensor

So car is showing a fault with egt sensor(one ordered and waiting to be fitted) just wondering what the symptoms are of a faulty sensor reason being took the car for a spin today driving perfectly then when it got to full temperature as I was exiting a roundabout the car started hesitating on acceleration it was spluttering up to speed is this related to the egt sensor or have I other issues to address any thoughts ?

would a fault code be logged for a faulty solenoid or is it trail and error. Is it expensive to change a vanos solenoid?

My m3 showed many codes and we narrowed it down to solenoid.
Hack engineering do uprated ones with viton seals.
Could be many things though!
