Default Do you track your Cecil?

As above, I want to try my hand at some spirited driving on track. Having just sold my Noble M400, I have a few other toys left in the pen, the most track worthy being my CSL. My concern is the cost of putting it right if I hit or get hit... Items such as front bumpers at circa £1,750 and the increasing collectible status of these cars are conspiring to make me look at a standard e46 as a track car. Does seem a waste not to use the CSL for its intended purpose though.

I’d be interested to hear if other owners continue to track their Cecils regularly and what your opinions are.

Track the CSL or buy a cheap standard m3???

I have never see a cheap fast m3 on track, I have seen plenty of fast m3s that have had £££ spent on them, either way you would have to spend money on both to make them track worthy

sold my csl 18months ago because i couldnt afford to run a 35k track toy,

I now run a 15k m3 smg track car thats has since had a £4k full cage welded in.
Managed 20 or so sub 8min btg ring laps along with 5 days at Spa running sub 2.55 laps over the last year.
Its now at West tuning having a forged engine, big cams after market ECU and other supporting mods,
Should be out on track with 400bhp next year and hopefully quicker and safer than the csl on track..

Think keeping the csl would have been a better plan tho lol.

If you havent tracked it yet im sure you will be impressed by how much more suited to the track they are than on the road..

No track days this year but I did a few over 2015 and 2016, I will probably do a couple next year of the planets align. I understand you concerns over the value of the CSL but if you stay within your limits and pick the right track day (I.e one aimed at high value cars) then you should be fine.

You have to track it in my opinion,

You can’t get near it’s limits on the road and it comes alive on the track,

If I didn’t track mine I would sell it.

Just up the brakes and change the oil ever 5k

Haven't done it for over a year due to a forced change of job & missed Goodwood because the places ran out.
Plan is to put it on track next year.

I'd love too take mine on the track but never had the time in the last four years too and I don't think I'll get anytime soon due too new born.
