Default Warranty Invoices from dealers

I had some work completed on a dealer credit offered by BMW UK due to an extensive delay waiting on a part. The work included an oil change and rear brake discs/pads replacement. On completion I asked the dealer for a copy of the Invoice and was informed as the Invoice hadnt been processed I couldn't get a copy. I've contacted the dealer again requesting a copy of the Invoice and have now been told as all work was completed under goodwill with no charge to myself I don't have the right for a copy of the Invoice??
Is this true, as it's my vehicle and surely I'm entitled to Invoices detailing work on my vehicle to make up its service history. I suspect the work didn't make up to the dealer credit hence their reluctance to give me a copy. Any advise or tips on this matter would be appreciated

when i have asked before, they normally give out a sheet with no cost details on it., but might give you a verbal hint as to the cost if interested

Ask for a pro forma invoice that as shimmy said should give a written confirmation that the work has been done but no costings.if they have done the car for free they are no obligated to invoice you for it.
But if asked they should supply a pro forma to say work has been done
Also goodwill doesn't show up in warranty cos its good will free of charge meaning they don't charge bmw mondial for the work.

Porsche give you an invoice detailing what has been done with a nil value. Maybe BMW can't do the same? They should be able to give you some record.

Thats correct they are not to show you the invoice

But if you have a friendly dealer they will print it

Without the prices on and if he is your mate with the prices

If they have carried out work on YOUR car, you are legally entitled to a hard copy of the works carried out, stating the parts that were replaced, whether this is goodwill or bye way of compensation.
Without a proforma invoice, (written record) in the event of a defective part or poor workmanship, they would not be liable.

I've got the entire warranty history print-out for my car.

It depends on the dealer, some will print it out straight away, some will refuse.
I've had one refuse, but who then did print it out after a bit of negotiation, they initially made up some stuff about data-protection.

Which law states that?

And good will parts aren't covered by warranty, that is why you are better off making a contribution to get the 2 year part cover.

Nathan is right about them not being covered if you haven't paid a contribution.

The work will be on the BMW system. I wouldn't push for an invoice but would kindly ask them for a record of the works carried out, even if it's just a copy of the job card.

They have offered to supply a written confirmation of work carried out, not sure if they could provide a pro-forma as the work was completed some time back and has likely to have been Invoiced to clear.
I might just try my luck getting an Invoice deatiling parts with their alternative site down the road
