AP Racing brakes on a CSL - what spec pads??

Hi guys.

I’m ordering new pads for my CSL which has APs all round but I’m not sure what spec pads to order. Does anyone have any info which may help me know what to buy? I’d be grateful for any advice. I’m a bit stuck!

Are you sure they are RS29s as I have this brake kit and regularly do 'ring trips and Snetterton (which is even harder on brakes) and have no issues - it's like hitting a brick wall.

Are you sure it isn't your fluid?

Yeah stopping power is good enough, but they just don’t last that long. I’m trying to figure out what the caliper spec is so I can look at other pads.

Will be either CP5575 (narrow calliper) or CP5555. CP5575 uses CP5070D54, CP5555 uses pad type CP3894D51. You should be able to cross reference those with other manufacturers pads. The part number will be etched into the calliper (usually round the back).

Ferodo DSUNO is a good alternative to the RS29....

Thanks a lot for that. We were thinking of the Ferodos until we realised we didn’t actually know the caliper spec!

Heat of the discs will speed wear, or another way of putting a it, the quality of your braking !

The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long and RS29's burn so very very bright.

I've been using RS29's for 5 years at the ring.

i entirely agree with their lack of longevity and they also destroy rotors very quickly but boy they're awesome and specifically at the ring no pad has come close for agressive braking and confidence building.

If you do discover a set up for AP's that are superior overall then 29's i would be eager to know.
