Default Cat D CSL for sale

Does anyone know anything about the Cat D that Nick Johnson has just put up for sale at £27000? Stolen he says.

Can't decide if it is good value or not. On the one hand you could, as he says, pile a load of miles on it and enjoy it, and get money back or even break the car. On the other does the Cat D status mean that it has no special value?

Which CSL was Nick drifting around roundabouts on the recent Euro trip?

Originally advertised for £23,500 in 2012 with 35.5K. It was subsequently reduced to £20,500 and sold. Now for sale at £27,995 with an additional 5K on it.

Is it worth a punt? It's a 'cat D' nothing will alter or change that.
However a straight CSL with 40K would cost in the region of £37/38, which is only £10K more. £23/25 sounds sweeter, if it's a serious consideration.

He can always buy it back when your finished scratching the itch!

I would buy a CHEAP cat D for track work but not from him after researching a little.

I would check it has the correct engine numbers as one of his other cars clearly has a iffy engine.
It would be at the back of my mind that the cat D car had been used as a donor car for the non recorded car with a knackered engine.
Just my suspicions but worth mentioning.

cheers Jamie

Always found Nick to be a genuine guy.very honest and people exagerate. Other dealers are worse....the so called 2600 mile csl dry stored for 10 years was parked outside on a lawn for 10 years down the road from me! Not to mention a few more dodgy ones for sale....Nicks cars are normally looked after and he will honour any post sale issues

Seriously ? if that's the case then that Garage Oop North that's selling it (while making a counter claim regarding it's past storage) got some explaining to do

Cat 'D' will be registered on the HPI datebase and will flag up every time you do a check... it's just not marked on the V5 document, unlike Cat 'C' cars which are clearly marked on the V5.
