Does anyone use Cup tyres for everyday use, come rain or shine? I read the advice on not using them in cold/ wet conditions, but the official line from Michelin is that they are a good tyre in the wet (I guess they mean on track and when warmed up).
I have used R888s in the torrential rain and not had a massive problem with them - of course they aren't as good as standard road tyres, but you can manage. The CSL I'm getting has Pirelli P Zero's fitted - not sure what they'll be like really. But interested in your comments about your experiences with Cup tyres :D Cheers Terry |

cups come new with only 4mm of tread so it would be an expensive ride if you were to do big mileage
i have ps2's fitted but will be changing to cups when these are not fit for purpose (i dont drive the car daily) |

Oh right, that would be a problem.... didn't realise that.
Do you use Cups on track Neil? If so how long do they last? I think I've read that Toyo have started doing R888s in CSL sizes - they are awesome tyres :D |

I had cups on my car, but could not get any grip on the road,
but i live in scotland, and it is always cold here. ![]() ![]() ![]() CSLGIRL i think uses them every day even in the rain she might give you some input ? |

I used my CSL in all conditions fitted with cups inc a few frosty mornings! great fun. Basically after a big moment on a very wet trackday at oulton park I learnt that in the dry the level of grip offered is amazing and this allowed me to push my car very hard as Neil will testify ! However in the wet you can go quick but you need to be very smooth with your input to the car. This was proved by a chap from Ireland in a gt3 who was also on cups at oulton in the wet and when I was all over the place, he was one of the quickest there! On having a chat with him he just said concentrate on being smooth not going fast and speed will come.........

Ive had cups for the last couple of years no problem.
Drove back from Wales in torrential rain - had a little aquaplane but as long as you are careful shouldnt be a problem. My cups are borderline now and don't get much grip but getting a new set very soon!! Worked very well on track. If you used it daily though, cost may be an issue if you have to keep getting new cups. |

Used my CSL in all weather and its fine on cups as long as you are gentle on the throttle in snowy/icy/wet conditions. Traction control is quite busy but no problems at all really.

The cups offer more grip in the wet than a conventional road tyre provided you can get enough heat in to them. Because of the low tread pattern they are no good when there is standing water. I will be getting cups next as I don't use the CSL every day now.
