Default CAE shifter

Know the CSL smg cannot run one but I fitted one to my M3 Sunday morning as is hands down the best shifter out there!

Still working on a cover in the window switch area and the ash tray so will get some more up once I'm happy with that.

Looks great, how's it compare to AKG shifter?

Thanks! Gone through a few different steering wheels and the feel from this one is great.

Yeah I've seen the build for that car, it's pretty epic.

AKG are good but this is in another world, only thing that really anoyed me with the akg is that it leant forward too much, even with it pulled all the way back.
If I were to fit one from fresh again think I'd spin the base plate around and make my own fixing holes further back.

But yeah the CAE Being sprung loaded to nutral means you can really smash it though the gears and having reverse locked out is a cool feature too.

completely awesome. I see you have gone up a notch with the halo seat.

CAE is the best shifter out there.

I'm sure we'll all read about it on PBMW but are you doing more to the car?

Yeah will all be in the mag over time, future plans are cage, shorter steering rack and maybe a 3.9 or 4.1 diff. Hopfully in that order too as have been putting off the cage for too long already.

Have made the CAE install look a littler neater now.

That's very very nice. I would have to pay someone to get that kind of quality work.

Re cage, are you thinking full FIA spec cage which is welded to all vital chassis points or half cage?

I have a CSL (naturally) but the one thing I find lacking in the car is steering feel. There just isn't much of it plus it is a bit light. I wonder if the regular car is better in that respect.

have you done the exhaust yet?

Very surprised to read this as the CSL is probably the best BMW in terms of steering feel.
I think you had the issues at the track with the cups and you are not sure what geometry settings you have.
Sounds very suspicious now
