BMW have done their best by requiring a chassis code to order specific parts but the internet has made it too easy to navigate around this.
My feeling is that CSLs are rare enough, and parts scarce enough, that what parts there are should be left for the genuine cars. You car will never be a genuine CSL so why insist on a genuine air box?

I would agree with what you are saying about most other cars, but not for the CSL since I have a feeling BMW actually made a 6sp which they keep hidden in their warehouse of rare one-off cars.
