Incase any people are worried

Over exertion of the car?
As to spanking your car, the day is structured to allow steady progression of your driving skill and ability. We never push people further than we feel they can go in the time allowed. Your safety and the condition of your vehicle is the priority throughout the day. We always remember that you have to drive your car home! There is ample opportunity to allow your car to cool down in between sessions - this ensures brakes and mechanical parts are not overheated.

Damage to tyres?
After a Performance Track Day you will not need to change your tyres. We have the benefit, unlike disused airfields, of being able to use a facility that is honed for vehicle evaluation and driver training. On the High Speed Circuit - 2 mile banked circuit - you will be able to potentially experience VMAX in your car. If we move on to the Mile Straight you will quite comfortably be braking from 120mph to the vehicles limit of adhesion - to give it its correct title - threshold braking. At no time will you find yourself in a situation where you are stressing the vehicle to the point that you will experience a high tyre wear rate. Our objective is always to give you a training experience that you can build on on the road or on the track, without compromising the condition of your vehicle. If we felt the training would damage your vehicle then we would use a CAT vehicle designed for the job.

Noise: So long as your car is not noisier than a Le Mans Formula 1 prototype then you are ok! These cars are tested at Millbrook with no issue over noise levels so you should be fine.

Spectators: as the facility is a Proving Ground there is no access for pedestrians around the circuits.

Insurance
Millbrook Proving Ground is a private off road facility. Due to the nature of the work carried out there your normal road insurance would not cover you on the circuits.

We work closely with Competition Car Insurance (previously known as Eger Lawson) who are part of Towergate. They will provide insurance cover for the trainees vehicle on our training days at Millbrook if you feel this will give you peace of mind, but each quote is based on the persons own circumstances and most importantly the value of your car.

For a quote you need to state that you are attending a CAT Driver Training day and reinforce that it is one to one instruction on circuit. They suggested that this key fact will generally reduce the quote by up to a half.

Some discounts are offered for our clients on annual policies.

The telephone number to call is 0115 941 6146. Please then ask for the Track Day / Event Department.
