It's all about the warranty. Different issues to consider between BMW and Porsche.

CSL - Does the CSL have the BMW Comprehensive warranty? If yes, then job done. BMW have been good at honouring their warranty, even on modified CSLs. No warranty? Buyer beware, and it's not an inconsiderable cost to you if you wanted to get a warranty.


GT3 - you need to do the 111point check to see if the car is elligible to be covered by Porsche's warranty - assuming you want to buy the warranty (if you play the wrong type of music in the car, Porsche may not honour the warranty). The 111pt check is a money collecting exercise... Porsche OPCs are not really knowledgeable enough about 996GT3s to really inform you as to the condition of the car (good/bad) unless they can sell you a policy. If you don't plan on getting the warranty, then an indie is the best way forward for GT3s.
