Default AVIN Avant 4

I like to use my car (I know sacrilege ), so decided I wanted something more convenient for long journeys, which the AVIN Avant 4 does in spades.

I supervised Ben my electronic wizard friend (I don't do electrics ) installing mine at the weekend and am very pleased with the outcome. After it was installed, it took me several hours to figure out how everything worked (which was longer than the install time ). I basically had to go through all the menus and figure it out myself (the joys of no instructions, although the email support is not too bad, with you just needing to work with the delays caused by the different time zones), but it is reasonably intuitive - despite me not being an android user (IOS FTW) .

Mine is the PX6 / 4GB RAM / 64GB ROM / 6-core CPU / Android 10 version and I added the following options:
1. iBus adapter
2. DSP chipset with 15 band equaliser
3. Apple CarPlay with AutoPlay adapter
4. DAB
5. TPMS

Please excuse the quality of the photos, the phone doesn't capture the screen very well (in real life it is crystal clear and a lovely image):

The scary part (for me anyway):

The DAB aeriel:

All fitted and starting to go back together:

The biggest thing for me is that the head-unit looks OEM:

The equaliser:

The DAB screen:

TPMS (sensors not fitted):

iBUS screens:
(When you open the doors or windows or put lights on etc, it shows up on the car image, which is quite cool):

Torque app (accessed by an OBD WiFi dongle in the OBD port for viewing and resetting any error codes):

Apple Carplay:

The good thing as well is that not having to have all the CD player gubbings, it is actually lighter than the OEM item it replaces as well as having a good built in amplifier (when combined with the equaliser option), that it enabled me to further reduce the weight by a significant amount by removing all this lot:

The great thing is the functionality - as soon as you get into the car (the phone doesn't even have to come out of your pocket) and it auto-connects and you can instantly start listening to music etc. Having Waze also load up is another of the reasons I wanted this (as points don't mean prizes ), along with being able to monitor the engine parameters and TPMS info while on track. At my age, trying to view this on a tiny screen is a no-no, so the fact that this is on a 7" item makes viewing much easier.
