Yes passenger window also drops a bit when you open it. That is to release the glass from the pillar. It should also be noticeably harder to close the door when the window is fully raised. Actually it will smash against the roof pillar
Does the passenger window still move when you use the switch / key?
As for the boot release, i havent heard of it being a common thing to go wrong on these cars. I think it most likely is the wiring or the switch itself that is broken but maybe its related to your passenger window not moving? Checking fuses is a great point to start.
