Not always
Japanese buyers of New German / Italian cars are always offered the choice of RHD or LHD at the dealer. The rarer & the more exotic the car, the more likely it'll be LHD (especially if it was originally designed to be LHD) as all German / Italian cars have been.
IIRC most Japanese CSLs are LHD ( Swiss / German imports) which carries extra CUDOS in Japan
although I'm not sure how many of Japanese ordered from new CSLs were LHD or RHD.
