Well this past week has been something of a mixed bag. So starting with the less than happy news...
We stripped the engine down, sent oil samples from the sump, filter housing and head off for analysis and sent the big metal bits off to the machine shop.
So we're we waiting with bated breath for the outcome of this in depth analysis?
Well no, not really. On top of the bore scoring and chunks of metal in the sump and lumps of sand in the head, take a look at the state of the rest of this motor:
A set of more than slightly second hand pistons and rods
On closer inspection, I'm thinking this is a slightly misaligned big end shell
A crank scored and pitted beyond repair
