standard CSL wheels?

Been looking at ads today and I seen one that said "car comes with standard 19" csl wheels or cup wheels are available"

Didn't all CSLs come with the mag cup wheels? :smt120

Hmm unsure without a pic. All CSLs came with the CSL wheels although there are the CS wheels which are a similar look but not as wide so just double check they are originals.

No - some buyers opted out of the cup alloys mainly due to the fact that at launch they said you couldnt put any other tyre on the cup alloy other than the cups and they warned that the tyres didnt work in the cold or wet!! So some owners went for the standard M3 alloys. I couldnt buy a CSL without the cup alloys unless it was a real bargain so i could afford to put the lightweight wheels on.

I had heard of something like that cslbecks, cheers for confirming.

Is there any quick way to tell if they are the magnesium wheels?

There are official part numbers but that probably wont be much use. Basically you need to ask are the wheels the same/look the same as on the standard M3 ie double spoke or are they a cross spoke design (CSL) - other than that you need pics and that will immediately confirm. It may be that either car was ordered without the cup wheels from new or the previous owner has sold the more expensive lightweight wheels and put the cheaper set of M3 wheels on.

Only seen one CSL with normal M3 19s for sale myself.

Yep, the standard for the CSL when new was the regular M3 19" double spoke type 67 (option code 792 from the M3 pricelist).

Only if the customer signed the tyre safety decleration could they choose the optional "M3 CSL" wheel/tyre combo. This didn't have a pricelist order code at the time.

Of course, most people did opt for the "M3 CSL" wheel/tyre.

PS, they're not magnesium

Where/how did the myth start that they were magnesium??
