New tyres

Need a full set as the current tyres are old cups and now out of date.
I have 2 questions:
1. What tyre is everyone using now - is it the pilot cup sport 2? (I stopped track use a few years back, so it’s only road use in the summer, but I’d still like some sticky Michelins.)
2. I still use the original CSL rims. What is the the tyre size? I think I remember reading somewhere that you can fit a very slightly wider tyre than BMW originally fitted? I think they look a bit better and offer a bit more rim protection.....so to speak!
Thanks
Simon

Summer use only Cup2 will be ok but they're not the best semi on the market currently. I use Trofeo R for my track tyre (265 square, 18s) and PS4S (std sizes) for the road when weather is changeable.

For CSL rims 235x35x19 and 265x30x19 are the size you need, i've not used any other size on the std rims.

As above. I'm running the Trofeo R's in standard CSL sizes (235/35/19 & 265/30/19) and up to now have been running them exclusively on the road (although track days planned for this year). They've been fine albeit only run in dry/warm conditions but exercise some common sense if the conditions deteriorate and you'll be fine.

I fitted Trofeo R's 18 mths ago, nice tyre on the road but don't like the shape/side wall, the original Cup had a nice squareness to it, filled the arch better.

I'm on Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres now, fitted to standard wheels. Gone are the days where I would have a separate set of wheels running original Cups or something similar.

If you want summer use and the option of venturing onto a track, going the Cup 2 route is hard to beat. They are much better in the wet than the original Cups, in fact I can't think of a a better track tyre on wet roads. That said, they are definitely not the fastest track tyre.

For me there is also something about the fact that Cups were part of the original CSL legend.
