Team Schirmer teaser video - RCN race 28/8/10

I'm working on a full race report which I'll post up in trip reports later, with loads more videos, however in the meantime here's a teaser video of the start of the RCN race at the ring I took part in on Saturday.

Those linked to me on facebook will already be aware that it was my first ever race at the ring, and I was sharing the drive with another Team Schirmer driver, JoJo - but it was his first race ever as well :whistle:

I drew the short straw to go first, and for those that don't know RCN basically the time of your first lap (in my case 9.20) has to be repeated +/- 10 seconds twice more in the race, with what they call sprint laps inbetween. The total laptime (excluding cool down and warm up laps before and after the pit stop halfway) is converted into seconds and that becomes your score - lower the better obviously. If you don't manage to get within 10 seconds on your 2 "confirmation" laps, you get hefty time penalties which increases your score - obviously not good.

Anyway, full report to come, but here is the first lap. I wasn't quite sure what I was doing, I just got flagged out but I remembered what Michael Funke had told me, you need to get past the traffic as they for some reason go slow on the first lap! Initially we were aiming for an 8.45 (which Michael did), but based on the weather (dryish but looked like rain) we decided on aiming for 9.15. Brand new slicks, and we were not allowed to warm them up. OK, and as parts of the track were damp (according to Jurgen Alzen), I'll be taking it easy then!

Hope you like the vid - its (obviously) not the fastest but its half decent quality and I like the sound :beer:

oh btw we came 5th overall :thumbs:

Out of interest have you upgraded to your international licence now ?

Mine was the same as yours last year after the last csl cup season, National A after the signatures etc, but getting mixed opinions on racing at the ring, i.e need an international BUT also need a course at the ring ??

or just a course at the ring to enable you to race on my Nat A ?

Probably gonna do the course anyway to be honest as it will be a good thing to do, but just wondered if you were up on it !! ;)

Dont quote me on this, but I think for VLN you'll need International C or a german national A + the course, which is the equivalent of our national B. Dont ask LOL

RCN you didn't need that, my national A was fine. I strongly recommend starting with RCN, its great fun and gets you experience. I'm thinking of VLN later next year, but doing a few RCNs first.

superb Steve :supz::supz:

looking at that compared to other vids it looks a lot quicker than 9.20 probably due to the full lap :)

Sounded amazing.

Stood down at Adenau bridge and watched the race. Some very very close shaves down there after the fluid was dropped in the braking zone and through the racing line!!

Will probably have some pics on the card of the car but not had a chance to look yet.
