Well DN16 was interesting

Made it home after a long drive. Thought I'd recap some of the things that happened during the DN16 event.

Let's start at the beginning.
Had my car setup by Getspeed. They did their magic and produced the best setup I've ever driven. The car was so great to drive I can't even explain. They also changed out my brake discs to new ones from AP racing. I tried a set of pads from Endless this event. The stopping power was beyond anything I've had before. Top stuff.

Thursday was the first trackday. The car was looking good and ready for action.

Third lap in this happened...

The video went viral on social media and has reached over 3 millions...

Anyway, found the door near the bridge. The inner half of it was in small bits but the whole outside had made it without big damage. So found my tape roll and a bunch of strips and got to work...

With that problem out of the way I could carry on. The traffic was pretty bad, but managed a 7:27-28 sport auto lap on thursday.

The weather on friday was uncertain with the forcast predicting rain.
Turned out to be much better then expected and most of the day was without drops of rain.

On friday I got a good lap, driving the best I can and despite having to pass 20 cars on that lap, managed a 7:25 Sport Auto lap. Here's a video.

Late on friday we got a red flag and when the track turned green again I went out as one of the first cars.
I got my dream lap with almost no traffic and was on pace for a 7:15 lap when the waterpump exploded right after the small carousel. The water got on my rear wheel and the car snapped at turn in sending me backwards into the barrier. Here's a video.

I have to take the car apart to have a good look on how bad the damage is, but first look doesn't seem to bad.The car is a bit damaged in the back and a got some damage in the front because of the waterpump that broke loose.

All in all I was lucky to get away with it the way I did.

My appologies to all involved at the trackday for bringing out a red flag..

Well mate, another very good write up and some excellent driving.

I thought you were unlucky enough with your door coming off at 280km/h but for your water pump to go causing that spin also, it just wasn't your weekend mate.

You are very lucky getting away with that damage, it looks mostly panel damage but like you say, you won't know until you've removed some parts for a good poke around. Good luck mate and keep up posted,

Nice to catch up again Inge.
Friday seemed to be a day of stoppages I guess due to the unpredictable weather in the morning.
That was looking like a great time up to the point the pump gave way.
That aside your car was flying both days.
Always next year.

Gutted about the door, as I was SO looking forward to my passenger lap  .

So unlucky with the "nearly" lap :(.

Hope the car is sorted bigger and better and you are back next year for that sub 7.22 Sport Auto lap  :supz:.

Hopefully you remembered to monetize your video, so you at least generate some revenue from your misfortune :).
