Diff clunk refresh
3 Attachment(s)
Hi guys. Had a mess about with diff over the weekend , diff was getting a bit clunky, Getting up to 70k mark Done the fm oil job few months back actually made it clunker, So diff out stripped it down, slightly wearing taper bearings but ok, so just had a play about with side shims , tried a few various sizes both sides, in the end just ended up putting .05 mm thinner on ring gear side, end result sound way better, still get the thuds on foot to the floor changes but no clunk, just a bit of info if it's of interest to anyone who may go down this road themselves , not rocket science few pics in album if anybody interested,

If anybody interested, picked up a couple of new diff output shaft bearings, these Timken bearings, are supposed to be as good as they come according to my Local engineering suppliers, , part number on bearing, if you need some your winter project

Interesting stuff. I will be taking mine out soon to change the oil and change the seals. Which oil and friction modifier did you go with?
