Extensive Engine Modifications

Just thought this might be of interest to someone;

A guy in Greece has a E46 M3 with extensive engine mods and still running N/A configuration:

350whp whats that about 390hp? Interesting thing is that its higher than what E92 M3's are putting down

the last dyno run was 347 rear wheel power...it was with 290-282 cams...
on a rototest dyno that measure power to the wheel hub...

now the new dyno was done in a mustang dyno ( which here were i live is considered the most strict dyno that we have..many cars from tuners are let down in that room....http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/images/smilies/frown.gif, the E92 was at 325-330rwp in there... ) and from what the owner told me it reads about 10% lower than the one i was using all these years....

so the new dyno was 340 at the wheels....
im going back for some more test runs cause the clutch let us down in the progress of the dyno session...

no dyno plot from the 340 but i am going to get one the next time i am going in a couple of weeks...

Nick's a member on this forum ... his car is pretty well known.

However you really can't compare numbers from a hub dyno to a rolling road - they'll read completely different - you can't even really compare dynos to dynos or dyno runs done on different days with different ambient temp, humidity ect

What is not known is for how long this engine was working.
I reckon the ratio is about 11 months in the garage, 1 month in the road.
It's not very reliable.

A lot of effort to go to for a road car IMO. 3.4 has to be easier?

Hi,

Why mess around with a 3.4 ?

Go give KK around 30k and have a 3.7.

The Gorilla.

cause a 3.4 doesn't cost 30k ;)

3.7 sounds good though, got any more info?

Hi,

These Guys know their BMW stuff.

Interesting! Any more detail info on specs? They're not giving up much there!;) Wouldn't want to do it myself, just curious.

Hi,

AlexGTT- KK spent a lot of time developing the
3.4 stroker kit for the S54 and the 3.7 is
an evolution of the original 3.4.

They are always very tight lipped about
their specs.

I have driven a 3.4 version and it was
very quick, but more suited to road
use rather than on the Track.

If you dig around on their site their
is a little more info.

Regards,

The Gorilla.
