Can you trust Paypal with such a large amount of money though?

IMO, nope...

Ebay / Paypal thing is getting daft now.....far too much support for buy side.

I'd wouldnt sell anything on ebay now that your not prepared to lose, unless:

1. A (very) strong feedback record
2. Enthusiast (on here for example), particularly if abroad
3. Cash on delivery


Personally wouldn't risk anything greater than ~£500 these days if it didnt fit into one of the above catagory.

For an item like this....cash on delivery all the way :)
