Underground garage

Has anybody been crazy enough to do an underground garage?
I am now up to 5 cars and have rented space all over the place for them.
But as garden and lawn space would disappear completely if I built a garage big enough, I started thinking about Building a one car garage but when the port opened there would just be a ramp Down under.

We've just completed a contract in Germany with a 25 place underground garage (block of apartments), biggest issue will be found conditions and location.

I'd you have good ground conditions and no adjacent buildings to support, it will just be expensive, but otherwise it wil be very expensive (but fun)

My house would also suit a ramp down in the garage and a big garage under the rear garden. I'd do a pool at the same ime in the garden.

Cannot remember where I saw them advertised, but looked like a good idea if space was an issue :-D

It would depend on the height of the 'Water Table' in your area, however this should be taken into account by the contractors and 'Tanking' provided, no doubt at extra cost.

If I were to install one, I would be submersing the car in a swimming pool without the tanking, approx 1m down to the Water Table locally.

I actually lived in an apartment with one of these on the ground floor. It broke down constantly. My car got stuck in there a couple of times while I waited for parts to arrive from Italy:banghead:
