Southern CSL track day - Castle Combe 3rd April

We are running a track day at Castle Combe on Friday 3rd April. This is a 48 car day with 12 cars per session. 4 sessions per hour = plenty of track time :)

If there are enough CSL owners interested, then we could run a CSL session - would look awesome having 12 CSLs on track together :)

The day is run by Track Masters, of which I am one of the organisers - have a look at www.track-masters.co.uk for more info and details of other events.

Track day details...

Maximum 12 cars on track (48 car maximum), ARDs instruction at no cost from Mike Wilds (ex F1/ Le Mans and current Britcar Champion) and Antony Wilds (Mike's son who holds the lap record at Combe in a Sports 2000 car)

We normally run open sessions in the morning and open pitlane in the afternoon weather allowing either way you will get lots of track time.

Cost

Driver £159.00
Co Driver £25.00
Passenger £0
Spectator £0

Noise limit is 100dB measured static at 3/4 max revs (I think).

If you're interested then please send me a PM or an email to terry@track-masters.co.uk and put your name on the list below

it's only 100 miles from Portsmouth, we could take the ferry in "le havre" During the night, arrival at 6 AM UK time, drive directly to be there around 8 AM and come back on the same day, ferry is at 11 PM and have a good sleep or party on the way back

Shake&Bake 12-01-2009 10:15 AM

I would love to get out on this one. It woud be my 1st UK trackday. Would it be a good event for a newbie like me never been to CC before?
AndyK I'm about an hour from Cardif how long would it take to get to CC from there?

AlexGTT 12-01-2009 11:29 AM

As Rob said, I could be a possible for this. Will let you know tomorrow.

I think it would be a good first taster. CC is set in a quiet rural location but has most facilities without being overly busy. Although the lap is relatively short compared to others, it throws most things at you with both fast and slower technical sections.

Regarding the journey from Cardiff, i think it would be about a max of an hour or so with standard traffic? Andyk can probably advise better!

Rob.

Andyk 12-01-2009 12:35 PM

CC is about 25 30mins from Chepstow so add another 30ish from Cardiff I would think....def no longer than 1h15m.

If you are going Shakeandbake we could meet at the severn bridge and travel across together......we could pick up Glendog and Dave the other side if all are attending.....Anyone else wants to join a convoy could join in around Bristol or I now a meeting place about 5 miles from Coombe, just of the motorway jnct that we could all meet before going to the curcuit.

Shake&Bake 12-01-2009 01:20 PM

Thanks Guys,

Yes that sounds great Andy might be a nice photo opportunity to have a few CSL's lined up beside the Severn ala profile pic.
On aother note I was at the Motorshow in NEC in Birmingham on Saturday and was really looking forward to picking up a helmet for upcoming track days however there wasn't the choice that I would have hoped for (Arai sold out Shoei not there) There are no motorsport supply companies in my area that I know of any suggestions where I could get one?

P.S Sorry for going off topic.

There is a company at Castle Coombe circuit that sell them...think it'######## Motorsport. Willpost the web site when I get home. Buy one and collect when you go to the track day. They do mail order as well.

Hi Andy. I'm Abergavenny, so if I book for this I could meet you at Chepstow to start the convoy.

Andyk 12-01-2009 06:02 PM

 Sounds good..then anyone coming the other way we could meet just off the jnct to Coombe.

terryb 12-01-2009 06:03 PM

Guys

Remember, for those of you that have little or no experience, we have 2 of the very best instructors out there - Mike and Antony Wilds - and they are free to use.

Anyone that hasn't been on track before will be asked to have an instructor with them on their 1st session anyway.

Interest is looking good - I can definitely see a session full of CSLs at this rate - how awesome would that be :)

Cheers

Terry

Also if you want my mate to come along who's a bit handy with a camera I'm sure he would be up to be 'official CSL' photographer for the day....You will have seen his work on the front cover of this years CSL calander and other pics I've posted from Goodwood.

Andy, we could well use him and he could photo all the cars on the day, not just the CSLs - therefore making him a few more bob on the day, potentially :)

DazBlackCSL 12-01-2009 11:26 PM

Thats a plan , like Coombe ...looking forward to a blast out

Noise limit is 100dB measured static at 3/4 max revs (I think).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...b/CSL/csl2.jpg

Just one thing for anyone with a 'louder' exhaust...very very strict on noise at CC.

Andyk 16-01-2009 03:55 AM

Terryb, as it looks like we will have a few CSL's do you think we would be allowed to have a grid CSL group photo at some point through the day.....it would look great in next years CSL calander.

david 17-01-2009 07:02 PM

Taking option on it

PS: Does anyone have a Hotel address nearby the track (same place, would not like to see my Csl damadge of gone....), just be security for me, Might need to pop in Uk a day earlier or later (according to ferry boat times)

If you want to travel to the circuit with a few others there is St Pierre Country Club in Chepstow....or if you want something a little cheaper the Two Rivers Hotel...Chepstow is a quite town so car should be safe. St Pierre is more secure and a very nice setting....we are around 20 to 25 mins from CCoombe.
