Britcar ???

Just watched the final round of Britcar at Donny, seems to be a grid of old / bold rich guys!!! (shimmy)

Pole time 1.16 in a Aston with slicks! Steady time for a 500bhp+ motor with slicks

Thinking a caged CSL with slicks / wing and a good driver could win it :supz:

Must be the slow boys at the end of the season Si. The quick cars like Abra's E46 M3 GTR are doing 1.11's.

Just seen this - 1:16 was on a very damp track ;)

Same driver did a 1:05.8 in the dry in the dark for night qually, and went quicker still in the race, 1:05.5.

Trust me, no M3 short of an GTE Spec M3 GT will get near that Aston.

The in car of the 1:05 shows how awesome the current breed of gt3 cars are, just effortless. Would like to see what it could do without the tiny little restrictors in, has near enough another 200bhp to give uncorked!

Is it the extra 200bhp restricted that means the car is faster than a comparable car with no extra bhp restricted (if you follow me).....ie does bhp restriction mean you can use other benefits of that engine?

GT3 cars go through homologation, part of that process is BOP (Balance of performance) which aims to ensure a level playing field of cars.

For example Aston is running a 6L V12 with 2 small restrictors (from memory 32mm), BMW running a 4.4 V8 with no restrictors at all from what I've heard. Guess if a car didn't have much grip they'd allow it more grunt with the aim of the same laptimes but not 100% sure on the process.

Downside of the Aston is fuel consumption, it properly guzzles it!

Also the boot is very small on the Aston so shopping trip may be a pain ;)

They need to make sure that all future BOP tests include a trip to waitrose :D
