What's your Donnington lap time?

Hi there

OK your not supposed to time at track days but I am sure many of us like me video ourselves and then watch them back. Managed a 1:23 last weekend in the dry on national circuit with boiled brake fluid so was quite happy with that as brakes are standard and fluid was boiled. Looking at AP's next. :)

What times are others getting in M3's and spec of your cars please. :)

My car is a 2002 E46 M3 SMG
Stripped out and weighing approx 1330kg
KW clubsports
Evolve remap
BMC panel filter
Milltek 100 cel cats
Dyno'd at 367BHP
Michelin cups in 265/35/18 square setup

Don't think I've missed anything important will get a video up in next few days. :)

Not timed in my CSL, but I'm sure shimmy was 1.19 ish.

That's fast, any video and what's he done to his car, or just standard CSL?

From memory Sy was in the 1m 18s and ONeill was just under 1m 19 and I was just over 1m 19..........less bhp than you :), Cups, Intrax, Supersprint, AP basically.

Very impressive considering your not using slicks or reducing weight further. Don't suppose got any videos up to see yours or the other guys lines?

Sys vid is somewhere but tbh to gain 5 secs it's more than adjusting your lines:)

I'll try to find a link

I got 1:22 on the day with all the CSL guys. Normal M3 stripped out with rear cage at the time, square setup 353bhp.

s.mac 07-03-2014 08:00 PM

1.28 wet track, 100 bhp fiesta, I did end up, upside down:-D

shimmy 07-03-2014 08:01 PM

s.mac 07-03-2014 08:08 PM

Have you got a dossier on me Shimmy ...

dave wilkinson 07-03-2014 08:12 PM

1m 18.7

SpineOnABap 07-03-2014 08:30 PM

Best lap time I have is from many, many years ago in a boggo CSL (on Cups) - 1m24s (DL1 data-logger). I wasn't particularly quick there, or anywhere for that matter, but Donington was a place I only visited a few times.

I'd like to get into the 1m 18s at Donny

MCSL 07-03-2014 08:40 PM

So what would be the time from a good driver then?

s.mac 07-03-2014 08:56 PM

Depends so much on the day. There can be a big shift in times, seen 1.14 on tsl timing for m3 (e46) to 1.29 same cars
Not standard cars

How on earth are you lot getting these times?!

I was there a week ago, admittedly it was wet but my best time was a 1:39!

I was miles quicker than anything else in our group, although a Radical was doing 1:19s.

Does you car only have 2 gears? Maybe that's why it's 1.39:hahaha:

You can't compare wet laps to dry laps, especially on r compound Tyres. Sideways spinning up is definitely fun, but definitely slow too,

shimmy 11-03-2014 11:54 PM

Post up a dry lap

2nd was useless, it was hard enough finding traction in 3rd. Only reached 117 mph so only used 3rd and 4th.

Don't have a dry lap, Shimmy.

Looking at the results from the race at Donny last year, the quickest lap was a 1:32, most were around 1:36 though, apparently that was on a damp track.

Sy's lap with mistakes and being held up, car had AP's, cups, and Intrax 1k2

It's certainly different in the dry! I couldn't get near full throttle anywhere but the straight.

Couldn't keep flat in 4th. Didn't try 5th, but would have had to change down to 3rd or 4th when straight anyway.

Yep. Still a few things little things to sort out as usual, but looking forward to the season. How about you?

Maybe......mid season.

Won't be same group though, more like up to 2.5 litre.

What do you plan on running?

They're allowing FWD 2l turbos this year, I can't see how they're not going to disappear into the distance...

I'm more worried about keeping it on the black stuff rather than worrying about a load of Evos :)

All will be revealed one day.
