@@@ 30-130 and Top Speed Day @ RAF Marham @@@

Most of you guys wont know of it, but the Mitsubishi Lancer Register have ran a couple of these days in the past, this time they are alittle short on numbers and so have invited non Evo's too

The event takes place at RAF Marham in Norfolk, this is the basic run down...

We’ll use the full length of the 1.5 mile / 60m wide runway of super smooth tarmac. The event will be fully marshalled and include paramedic cover to ensure it runs safely. Food will be managed by the RAF who'll be based alongside the MLR ’30-130 paddock’.

All cars will be fitted with a Racelogic V-Box in front of the MLR unit to record your car's performance. Cars will run one at a time and will have to start within a designated area for the run to count. Having completed a “30-130 run” all drivers will be able to go on to complete a top speed run if they want. It’s not compulsory but you may not have a better, safer and legal way to find out your car’s straight line performance. The next car will be released when car No.1 has passed the halfway mark on the runway.

Once the car has returned to the Paddock and the VBox removed, it can be driven onto the corner weights at the rear of the MLR unit to be weighed. Your 30-130 time and top speed result (if applicable) will be displayed at the MLR unit as soon as Dave has downloaded the data from your runs.

The main thread is http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=240940

The second thread opening the day up to non Evo's is http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=242612

Theres two days, the one i am taking part in is on Saturday 7th March - this is open to MLR members only (joining fee is £35 per year) - i know some others on here are also members of the MLR so this is for you too :smokin:

The second day on Sunday 8th March is open to anyone, MLR member or not.

All the information you need is in the links above, i know straight line speed isnt what CSL's are about, but i'm interested in what times i can post, and it would be great to compare my car with other Members CSL's on here. Anyone up for it???

SMD 28-01-2009 08:00 PM

I am up for it but waiting for my new bank card to turn up and mechell wont hold a place until paid for! :banghead:
They have said 5-7 working days!

Anyone wanting to book 2 places one for me?

E46ACS 28-01-2009 08:15 PM

Would love to do this, never tried anything like this, but Norfolk a bit far for me.

SMD 28-01-2009 08:19 PM

At the last 30-130 i did 7.1 secs 30-130 which was the fastest time of the day. 800hp Evo 9!

Wounder how much slower the CSL is!
Nice place to learn to drift! :smokin:

dave1 28-01-2009 08:46 PM

bit of a trek for me really

9.65 secsonds for me on the same day, just looked at the weight of your car, 1357 against my 1491 - i wonder what weight the CSL's will come in at?

What you think 30-130 time? 12 seconds at a guess???

SMD 28-01-2009 11:25 PM

Well rich i spend alot of time using the Vbox etc. I have not done a
30-130 in the CSL yet. 3 Years ago at the 1st 30-130 i did 17.9 with my Evo 8 MR with 400hp.
I think the CSL will be around 15-16secs! :clown:

Weight, well mine is a true light weight with no air con, xenons etc! This could be the place where my CSL would be better! :smokin: :hahaha:

bryce 28-01-2009 11:41 PM

What the hell do the G's feel like in an 800bhp car??

SMD 28-01-2009 11:43 PM

Its very fast but i have 400hp in my evo 8 then 600hp in my 9 then 800hp with a 5 speed dogbox! :smokin:

I loved it but it had to be taken on a trailer to every event. lost interest in the end and stipped it for bits! Then bought the CSL! :notworthy:

Have a vid i will route it out now!

SMD 28-01-2009 11:46 PM

My Evo

http://eastcoastcustomsonline.co.uk/...s/9GT/9GT.html

1st test in the car!

bryce 28-01-2009 11:56 PM

Holy jesus!!

Why did you loose interest? It a one trick pony?

SMD 28-01-2009 11:58 PM

No the car was good at most events. Top speed 200+. Drag, sprints etc! I just could not use it as i wanted. Somthing always going wrong etc! :banghead:

2bar boost 29-01-2009 09:19 AM

Rich its time to post your Top Gun vid

Im working that weekend but if I can sort shifts out could be interested..

The CSL for me is very deceiving as far as speed is concearned.

It feels no where near as quick off the mark as my old IX GT but once its on cam just pulls nice and linear with what seems to be like little tail off..

Perfect day for some benchmark results :smokin:

SMD 29-01-2009 10:08 AM

Be good if you can make it 2bar!
I am trying to do my best to get a place booked!

RichW 29-01-2009 10:13 AM

The video's already up, check out the Gallery ;)

Would be great to get a few of us there, not sure about you guys but i think it would be great to actually compare the performance of my own car against other CSL's. Shame no one with a Stage 1 or 2 could join us???

Be good to catch up with the old lot

Bealo 29-01-2009 04:11 PM

I live in Norfolk and aslong as im in the country i plan to go. Mines got the stage 2 and should have the 4.10 diff conversion done by then so should be good to see the difference.

Where you the guy who lost it at high speed at Marham?????

I would have sh*t myself if that happened to me.....

Bealo 29-01-2009 04:14 PM

Doh just seen yr vid clip RichW

SMD 29-01-2009 05:24 PM

Good to see your car Bealo against mine and the others!

How much did the 4.10 diff cost? How much better are they ment to be?

60-130mph takes 13.7 seconds with the vbox, pulling 0.97G on acceleration

RichW 29-01-2009 07:39 PM

Quite abit longer than my estimate then :hahaha:

To be fair i dont care, i love driving the CSL alot more than my old Evo and that had over 600bhp.

Bealo - if you want to run you'll need to get security passed and paid up so could be pushing it alittle for you to make it no?

I cant wait! :tonqe:

Think my clutch slips a bit though and it was slightly uphill, will have to send it in to get a new one.

woolfy 30-01-2009 05:12 AM

Would have loved to be there with the mlr lads but unfortunately the dates have fell on a day when we are away on a family holiday. Gutted!! Would be very interested to see what performance times the csl's would post though. I think that a csl would be coming in about 14-15 seconds from 30-130 blast. Took mine out for a quick shake down sunday just gone and i will say this for sure..... speed creeps up on you before you know it . . . .!! Thing is you dont get the punch of a turbo so the feel is incomparable with an evo in my opinion. . :) The noise in sport mode is for winners though hey!!

Bealo 31-01-2009 04:01 PM

Looks like i won't be able to attend, looks like i will be in Libya (Great)

SMD

I am in the States and will bring a kit back it will cost about £500 to buy and about £400 to fit.

I have heard really good things about it and can't wait to get it fitted. Ill let you know my thoughts on it.

2bar boost 07-03-2009 09:56 PM

Rich any news on how the CSL performed mate?

_Nathan_ 07-03-2009 10:10 PM

4th slowest :D

I'll see if I can do any better tomorrow :)

Go for it Terry - the CSL wasnt as quick as i thought in a straight line, not that i'm really bothered, the long sweeping 100mph corner at the end of the runway was best, never drifted a RWD car at that speed before yesterday :hahaha::hahaha::hahaha:

There was a head wind that became quite strong towards the end of the day, so figures will be down on what they potentially could have been, plus i always had our lass in the car with me :)

Weight of my car was 1383 KG - that was with around 10kg of crap in car, and if i'd completely emptied the boot that might have saved another 5KG?

ROSS W (40 - EVO 6)6.92
Is that second it took to go from 30-130 mph???

SMD 08-03-2009 11:57 AM

Yes Ross had a good day and has gone quicker than i did.

I won the last two events doing 7.1without NOS. But Ross used NOS to get this time! Very fast cars. Alot of trouble tho!:banghead:

SMD 08-03-2009 12:18 PM

Not have a go at Top Speed Run Rich?

TerryB 1st run 22.71!

csl_mba 08-03-2009 12:35 PM

Bloody hell you just realise the acceleration on these if the CSL is doing 15 seconds slower than the fastest Evo :supz:

bryce 08-03-2009 01:31 PM

I cant even imagine how fast that feels. Must be awesome

SpineOnABap 08-03-2009 05:07 PM

They're blisteringly quick aren't they?!

Simon (SMD) you used to have a mental machine then? Gareth mentioned you had an EVO that you'd done up a bit

He's just done a 20.45 and 148.08 top speed so beaten my time of 21.47 and 146.58 at the top :bigcry:

Would a 60kg passenger make that difference?? :)

SpineOnABap 08-03-2009 06:31 PM

Is it a bit rainy today?

2bar boost 08-03-2009 08:51 PM

Im quite astonished at the times a CSL runs at this event!

Thought it would be far higher up the leader board :bigcry:

Check out the M6 that ran today 25s:banghead:

They are pretty toilet arent they, i was honestly expecting mid teens, slippery shape compared to the evo, flat shifting, no lag, that is bizarelly slow sounding.
My old Evo 8 ran in the 9's full weight, around 1425kg i think, i would never have said it felt twice as fast and a bit more in a straight line.
Ferking strange that.

RichW 08-03-2009 11:41 PM

At the end of the day, does it really matter?

My old car ran 9.96 @ 183 - the CSL 21.47 @ 146 - given the choice, i'd take the CSL every time :smt055
